DAVID NORDLUND RESUME

I lead brand development in all areas, generating a clear visual identity and unique messaging. I create brand portfolios, top-notch marketing campaigns and strategic plans that successfully establish business in the marketplace.

Movable Type:
As the Senior Designer for Movable Type, I developed the signature brand identity and portfolio materials along with a full marketing package with complete B2B and Consumer facing brand portfolio properties which lead to 1,600% growth over 3 year period. My day to day duties included creation of materials for Trade Shows, Presentations (both internal and external), Promotional items, brochures, Media Kits, Outdoor, Digital properties and all supporting materials for North America and International teams.

The Discovery House:
During my 2 years as the Creative lead at The Discovery House I established, provided and maintained the creative direction for The Discovery House, Discovery Transitions and Circle of Hope businesses. Upon my arrival there was no brand identity, printed materials or website established. I provided direction and organization along with conceptualizing and generating print materials for all 3 verticals. Through meaningful design solutions, critical thinking, and problem solving I coordinated with ownership to established the brand guidelines, strategy and marketing communications for both B2B and B2C facing properties which included: TV, radio and print advertising for each business.

With the creation of this brand portfolio, assets, and structure the company was able to spark a 60% growth in 1 year followed in 2014 (year 2 ) by a 40% growth topping 20M.

Variety Magazine:
As the Director of Creative Services at Variety Magazine, I created signature brand identities (logos) and portfolio materials for Variety signatures events (both televised and non-televised), and I launched Variety’s “Power of Women” event series which generated over $1.3 million year 1 through various philanthropy causes. I was responsible for managing the In-House Marketing/Design Agency within Variety that allowed me to drive the creative direction of the creative content, merchandise, and promotional products under the Variety and Daily Variety umbrella. In addition to developing creative pitches for advertisers both in print and online, I overhauled their previous portfolio and website which lead to a 60% increase of traffic. This allowed me leverage when I created alliances for mutual revenue streams through the promotion and marketing of our events. I also implemented all online ads, banners, overlays, roadblocks, and handled digital content design for Variety.com.

Sony Pictures:
During my four years as In-House Senior Art Director at Sony Pictures Television I established, provided and maintained the creative direction for SP Television properties. In addition to conceptualizing and generating print materials for SP marketing, I provided meaningful design solutions through critical thinking, problem solving and a full circle approach. This required me to coordinate with management teams and established project parameters which included budget allocation on small and large scale projects. I was behind the creation of one-sheets development (new television properties), logos for SPT on-air, print, and outdoor, which branched into my responsibilities as Creative Lead for Ad Sales, show launches, premieres, events and Award shows.

Graphic Orb:
My time spent at Graphic Orb serving as Designer and later transition to the Senior Art Director and Co-Creative Director expanded my creative landscape. I worked specifically with Universal Pictures to generate motion picture ad campaigns. As the Co-Creative Director for the Academy Awards division my campaigns included: Erin Brockovich, Ray, A Beautiful Mind, 8 Mile, About a Boy, Billy Elliot, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and The Mummy Franchise. I was also responsible for facilitating all inner-related trade and consumer display ads which were not limited to Academy packages, sell sheets, style guides, newspaper ads, premiere invites, In-theatre displays, B2C facing materials, and B2B products.

I have also served as lead creative for work in the non-profit sector, with clients such as LA’s Best, The Lollipop Theatre Network, Entertainment Aids Alliance, Parents Television Counsel and Shriners Hospitals For Children.
