Creative Intention

If there’s a will, there’s a way…

We’ve probably heard this saying a few times in our lives. It tells us that if a person really wants to do something, he’ll find ways to do it, no matter the cost. In everything we do, the intention or will to do so is crucial because it allows us to overcome the challenges to our goal. If you really want to do or have something, you’re going to do everything to get it done.

In creating content, art, or anything, the intent to deliberately create is also important. Passion and intention will help materialize one’s creativity. What value is creativity if nothing is created? Right?

We need to develop intent. To maximize our creativity, it has to materialize, you have to say to yourself, “I’m going to do this and nothing’s going to stop me”. Here are some tips that can help you push yourself to develop that intention:

Set a goal! What is it that you want to do? It starts with an inspiration. Inspiration is the spark of creation. Determine a target, visualize the outcome you wanted to see and remember, the finish line is what inspires runners to run.

Make a plan. The next thing to do is to plan. Make a plan to achieve your goal. What do you need in order to get it done? How are you gonna get it done? When will you start doing it and when do you expect to finish it? By creating a plan, you’re giving yourself a clearer vision of your goal. Marathons are not started on the day of the race.

Prepare and Organize. After establishing your plan, it’s time to organize things and prepare for them. Gather the materials you need, research if necessary, set your schedule, organize people who will help you (if needed), and whatever else that will make you ready to run the race. This is to make sure that the implementation of your plan will go as smooth as it can be.

Implementation. The next step is to implement or execute your plan. You are now doing the actual work. Because you have a goal set, a plan to follow, and you’re prepared to do so, you can strategically create that thing you wanted to do. Make sure to keep your eyes set on the goal, follow the plan, and go for it.

Most Importantly – Never give up! Challenges will come along the way in the creation process. There will always be unforeseen situations. Sometimes, the plan might not work. But never give up, remember the goal and if the plan doesn’t work, go back to the drawing board and adjust. Whenever you feel like giving up, always remember why you started it in the first place.

Focus is very paramount. Sometimes, you have to push yourself beyond your limits to create something meaningful. That’s creating with great intent.
